\n\tRobert De Niro will be doing an Uber U.K. ad campaign, but it will not be tied to his memorable Taxi Driver<\/em> role. <\/p>\n \n\tReports earlier this week in U.K. tabloid The Sun<\/em> suggested that the Oscar-winning actor would be bringing one of his most memorable roles, Travis Bickle, to the commercial space. The ads were allegedly set to feature the actor uttering the famous line, \u201cYou talkin\u2019 to me?\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe actor\u2019s rep Stan Rosenfield denied that De Niro would be uttering the well-known phrase, and in a statement, told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> that \u201cDe Niro\u2019s Uber commercial has nothing to do with his Taxi Driver<\/em> character.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tTHR<\/em> has reached out to Uber for comment. <\/p>\n \n\tThe campaign is currently filming in London and is slated to launch sometime later this year. <\/p>\n \n\tNews that De Niro could possibly reprise his Taxi Driver<\/em> role for Uber ads caught the attention of the movie\u2019s writer, who responded critically on his own Facebook. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cOuch,\u201d Schrader wrote in a post\u00a0shared on Wednesday. \u201cWhy Bob would do this is beyond my reckoning. But I haven\u2019t seen it. If I\u2019m lucky, I never will.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tTaxi Driver<\/em> earned the Palme d\u2019Or\u00a0at the\u00a01976 Cannes Film Festival, as well as four Oscar nominations, including\u00a0best picture,\u00a0best actor\u00a0and best supporting actress. <\/p>\n \n\tThe Martin Scorsese-directed psychological thriller about a taxi driver and his deteriorating mental state, also starred\u00a0Jodie Foster,\u00a0Cybill Shepherd,\u00a0Harvey Keitel,\u00a0Peter Boyle,\u00a0Leonard Harris and\u00a0Albert Brooks. <\/p>\n \n\t\u00a0De Niro would go on to work with both Schrader and Scorsese again, including 1980\u2019s Raging Bull<\/em>. Next De Niro will appear in Scorsese\u2019s latest anticipated film, Killers of the Flower Moon<\/em>. <\/p>\n \n\tUber has seen a number of celebrities help advertise for both its Uber Eats delivery service and Uber One, its separate membership service, in recent years.
