\n\tDuring her Renaissance World Tour stops in L.A., Beyonc\u00e9 caused a run on sparkly fashion with a silver dress code directive. It\u2019s a favored metallic the megastar also rocked back in March when she offered a peek into hubby Jay-Z\u2019s ultra-exclusive post-Oscars Gold Party. In the GIF she posted, she\u2019s wearing a customized mirrored mini covered in feathery paillettes by\u00a0Retrof\u00eate.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI design what I like to call over-the-top ready-to-wear \u2014 catering to both the everyday and life\u2019s biggest moments,\u201d says Israel-born Ohad Seroya, who co-founded the New York City-based label in 2018 with his husband, Aviad Klin.<\/p>\n

\n\tBeyonc\u00e9\u2019s outfit reveal to 316 million ardent followers went viral immediately \u2014 the brand itself gained 5k followers from reposting it \u2014 and influenced the influencers. Requests for Retrof\u00eate silver pieces, including from VIPs like Chrissy Teigen, Kerry Washington and Gabrielle Union, spiked 392\u00a0percent in May through early September compared to the first quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n

\n\tNow, with premieres and many awards ceremonies on pause during Hollywood\u2019s double strike, red carpet opportunities remain limited for actors and brands alike \u2014 which means Instagram is more important than ever as a spot to spotlight fashion. \u201cThey have to continue to try to find moments where people say, \u2018Oh, yeah, this person looks great. This person is a fashionista. This person understands fashion,\u2019\u201d says Zadrian Smith of styling duo Zadrian + Sarah. \u201cThat becomes just doing your everyday stuff, like going on holiday [and posting it].\u201d<\/p>\n

Harlow invited her 10.3\u202fmillion IG followers into her boisterous night through multiple galleries. \u201cThat look ran everywhere,\u201d says Tia-Marie Yan, Retrof\u00eate PR manager of celebrity & VIP.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso this summer, stylist Heather Smith dressed Alessandra Ambrosio (who has 12\u202fmillion followers on Instagram) in a shell-embellished gold-mesh minidress for a private yacht soir\u00e9e in Ibiza. \u201cWhen people feel good in their outfit, they\u2019re going to post it on social,\u201d says Smith, who regularly pulls Retrof\u00eate. \u201cObviously, social is just as good, if not better, than a red carpet.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe onslaught of music festivals and mega-tours has increased demand for Retrof\u00eate\u2019s high-shine, TikTok-ready pieces. \u201cRight now there are huge, huge requests in concert [looks],\u201d says Yan. Retrof\u00eate regular Sof\u00eda Vergara bought a rhinestone pinstripe corset set for Taylor Swift\u2019s The Eras Tour \u2014 and shared the evening with 31.2\u202fmillion. And Blackpink members Jennie, Ros\u00e9 and Jisoo have worn sequined, beaded and fringed looks during their Born Pink World Tour.<\/p>\n

\n\tYan emphasizes that celebrity placements are always carefully curated loans from future, unavailable seasons rather than freely distributed gifts from the current one: \u201cThat makes it more exclusive because we don\u2019t just throw $800 dresses out there and hope that it\u2019ll stick.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRetrof\u00eate also nimbly responds to viral moments. For instance, upon receiving confirmation that Selena Gomez would wear a glitter-pinstriped pantsuit for a 2022 Saturday Night Live<\/em> promo, the web team quickly made the outfit available online for preorders.<\/p>\n

\n\tMarking its five-year anniversary, Retrof\u00eate made its New York Fashion Week debut with a Spring 2024 show that nods, says Seroya, to his \u201cformative experiences\u201d \u2014 music fests and jet-setting parties \u2014 which are also occasions for which people flock to Retrof\u00eate. Actor Joel Kinnaman and model Jordyn Woods sat front row.<\/p>\n

\n\tAhead of Oscar season (assuming the strikes aren\u2019t ongoing), the show also marks an expansion from \u2019grammable ready-to-wear into custom design with an eye toward elevating itself as a red carpet label of choice. \u201cThe fashion show,\u201d says Yan, \u201cis going to open a lot of doors for us to cater to dressier, one-of-a-kind pieces.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
